Mekhi Yant

Mekhi Yant is a 6' 2", 203 lb. talented athlete originally hailing from Jackson, Mississippi, who made a significant mark on the world of sports through dedication and hard work. Growing up in Jackson, Mekhi developed a passion for basketball at an early age, which laid the foundation for an impressive athletic career.


Mekhi attended FAMU High School, where he emerged as a standout player. During his high school career, he earned All-Area honors twice, showcasing his skills and determination on the court. His hard work paid off as he became a two-time district and regional champion, ultimately leading his team to the state finals as a two-time state runner-up. These achievements not only highlighted his athletic talent but also demonstrated his leadership and commitment to excellence in sports.


After high school, Mekhi took his talents to Fisk University, where he secured a four-year athletic scholarship. At Fisk, he continued to excel on the basketball court, showcasing his abilities as a key contributor to the team. His dedication and performance earned him the prestigious title of School-Wide Male Athlete of the Year twice, underscoring his status as one of the top athletes at the institution.


Currently, Mekhi is serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Fisk Men's Basketball team, where he utilizes his experience and knowledge to mentor the next generation of athletes. While coaching, he is also pursuing his Master’s Degree, demonstrating his commitment to both his education and the development of his students.


Mekhi's journey from Jackson to Florida and then to Fisk University illustrates a remarkable story of perseverance, talent, and leadership in the world of sports. As he continues his journey in coaching, he remains an inspiring figure for aspiring athletes and a valuable asset to the Fisk University basketball program.
